In early January, the City of Waukesha Forestry staff removed abut a dozen ash trees located on the terraces along Rolling Ridge Drive. An official from the Forestry Dept. confirmed that several of the ash trees did show signs of the emerald ash borer. As a group, the ash trees were beginning to lean into the roadway due to crowding from the older trees nearby. The City Forestry Dept. strives to maintain a certain amount of clearance along the streets for vehicles and they felt that these ash trees along Rolling Ridge were beginning to lean too far into the street.
The official indicated that there are no plans to replace these terrace trees due to the proximity of the older trees along Rolling Ridge.
If you own healthy ash trees, it may be time to contact a professional arborist and consider some type of treatment that might ward off the emerald ash borer.

The Mayor's office has released the information below regarding an upcoming event that will allow residents to safely dispose of their unwanted electronics items:
The city is hosting Legacy Recycling to run the event, who will be on site to collect electronics from residents. There is a $20 fee for all old tube CRT (cathode ray tube) TVs and a $5 fee for all CRT computer monitors (that includes broken TVs or monitors). All other electronics – including flat screen TVs, computers, laptops, keyboards, mice, cords, printers, fax machines, video game systems, speakers, radios, and much more – will be accepted at no cost. The Drop-Off Center gate, located at 900 Sentry Dr., will be open for residents coming for normal operations that day, including leaves, yard waste, branches, and recycling. The Drop-Off Center will be open for normal operations 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Electronics, such as TVs and computers, must be recycled per Wisconsin law. There is no pick up of electronics at city residences – residents must turn in their electronics for recycling. Residents should never put electronics into their household recycling or trash carts. Other local retail stores and companies do accept electronics year-round – residents should check with those companies for details of their programs.
The city intends on hosting more electronic recycling collections in 2016 and the dates will be announced. For more information, residents may call Legacy Recycling directly at 262-930-4228 or contact myself in Public Works.

OOPS! Wrong Cover Letter Mailed With '15 Invoices
Recently all Windings property owners should have received a mailing containing a brief cover letter from Frank Remfrey, minutes from the annual meeting and an invoice for the 2015 assessment for $120 due on December 31st, 2015.
Unfortunately, the cover letter from last year, dated December 28, 2013, was used in this year's mailing which was prepared with help of most Board members and a volunteer. The letter was folded and its content out of view as we prepared the mailing and none of us caught the error until after the letters were mailed. We apologize for the oversight.
Here is the correct letter that should have been sent with the 2015 invoice:

Dear Neighbors:
Enclosed you will find the minutes of the annual WMC
membership meeting and your invoice for the 2015 assessment. This assessment is used to fund the lawn
care, tree maintenance and snow removal for the 21 acres of common property
here in the Windings subdivision.
Following the approval of the 2015 budget at the December 1st
annual meeting, the assessment for 2015 will remain $120 and is due on January
31st. Your prompt payment to
the above address (PO Box 5001, Waukesha 53187) will be appreciated. You
will save us time if you write your lot number on your check’s memo line (see
“Customer ID” on your invoice).
This past year the WMC Board was faced with a number of
unexpected expenses with the removal of downed or diseased trees and the
replacement of split rail fencing along Rolling Ridge Drive. On a positive note, we have completed the
first full growing season for the prairie garden located on the outlot between
University Drive and Bristol Court and look forward to the results of
additional wildflower seeding done last October.
Below are some items the WMC Board and I would like to share
with you.
- Outlot (“Common Property”) Reminders:
No motorized vehicles are allowed
on the outlots.
Please pick up after your dog!
Commercial advertising or
political signs are not permitted on the outlots.
- Address: Please let us know if there are any errors in your address listed on your invoice.
- Exterior Lamp Post: Is your light working? Check it today and please replace your bulb, if necessary.
- WMC Website: For additional information, visit the WMC website:

Enjoy the remaining days of the holiday season and best
