Good morning,
The Public Works Department wishes to inform all city employees that there is going to be a TV and electronics recycling collection day on November 7th, 2015, from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. at the city Drop-Off Center, located at 900 Sentry Dr. All residents are welcome to use this event to dispose of their electronics.
The Mayor's office has released the information below regarding an upcoming event that will allow residents to safely dispose of their unwanted electronics items:
The city is hosting Legacy Recycling to run the event, who will be on site to collect electronics from residents. There is a $20 fee for all old tube CRT (cathode ray tube) TVs and a $5 fee for all CRT computer monitors (that includes broken TVs or monitors). All other electronics – including flat screen TVs, computers, laptops, keyboards, mice, cords, printers, fax machines, video game systems, speakers, radios, and much more – will be accepted at no cost. The fees for the CRT TVs and computer monitors are paid to Legacy Recycling and they accept cash only.
To attend the event, vehicles with electronics must enter from the gate located at 600 Sentry Dr., the entrance to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Drop-Off Center gate, located at 900 Sentry Dr., will be open for residents coming for normal operations that day, including leaves, yard waste, branches, and recycling. The Drop-Off Center will be open for normal operations 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Electronics, such as TVs and computers, must be recycled per Wisconsin law. There is no pick up of electronics at city residences – residents must turn in their electronics for recycling. Residents should never put electronics into their household recycling or trash carts. Other local retail stores and companies do accept electronics year-round – residents should check with those companies for details of their programs.
The city intends on hosting more electronic recycling collections in 2016 and the dates will be announced. For more information, residents may call Legacy Recycling directly at 262-930-4228 or contact myself in Public Works.
Thank you, have a great weekend! Perhaps we will see you on the 7th!
