In early January, the City of Waukesha Forestry staff removed abut a dozen ash trees located on the terraces along Rolling Ridge Drive. An official from the Forestry Dept. confirmed that several of the ash trees did show signs of the emerald ash borer. As a group, the ash trees were beginning to lean into the roadway due to crowding from the older trees nearby. The City Forestry Dept. strives to maintain a certain amount of clearance along the streets for vehicles and they felt that these ash trees along Rolling Ridge were beginning to lean too far into the street.
The official indicated that there are no plans to replace these terrace trees due to the proximity of the older trees along Rolling Ridge.
If you own healthy ash trees, it may be time to contact a professional arborist and consider some type of treatment that might ward off the emerald ash borer.
