An "unofficial" Windings subdivision rummage sale is being planned for late July. Cheryl Evans, who resides on Coventry Lane, is organizing the event and recently indicated it will take place on July 27-28. Cheryl will be dropping off flyers to newspaper boxes in the neighborhod with more details.

Car Thefts Occuring in Area
In the past several weeks a number of car thefts have taken place in the Pewaukee and Waukesha area, including one in the Windings. According to the Pewaukee police, the pattern of the thefts seems to be that the cars are sitting out in driveways unlocked. When the thieves open the door to look for coins in the ashtray, they sometimes discover a spare car key. In addition, the garage door opener, attached to the visor, is used to enter the home where keys are located.
Several precautions are recommended: 1. Do not leave your car unlocked; 2. Lock your doors to your home at night; 3. Do not leave a spare key anywhere inside your unlocked car; 4. Make sure your home's exterior light is working.
Now that school is adjourned for the summer it is common for sleepovers to take place. Parents need to be vigilant about supervising the sleepovers and communicate with each other about the agenda for the evening.
About ten years ago, a 15 year old was killed while driving a stolen car during a police chase on Silvernail Road. Let's hope we will not have another tragedy.
